These early video works are not available for exhibitions and screenings at this time, with the exception of Lovefish which can be rented through the Filmmakers’ Co-op in New York City. As foundational experimental works, these films and videos were largely collaborative. The considerable work of numerous actors, performance artists, production managers, and musicians were instrumental in their creation. This list of titles exists here to honor the magic and labor that went into their creation. Most of these video works focused on ritualized movements improvised by the actors in site-specific locations in nature, and non-narrative explorations of natural sites. An experiment in what synergy unfolds during ritualized duration, the performers were given conceptual parameters and starting points. The rest of their performative actions were chosen by themselves while the camera was rolling, giving them autonomy yet creative responsibility. Much sense was made of the strange and surprising results in post-production editing.
